Hola.

With a lot of love we invite you to our wedding!

Having multiple countries to call our home is beautiful, but there is one thing that we have been dreaming of for years:

Having all of our loved ones together in one place.

To us, this is more than a wedding: it's one of the few magical moments in our lives where our hearts will be fully whole.

So bring your best suits and party gowns, prepare your stomachs for an endless flood of wine and tapas, and cancel all your calls for that weekend - because a love like this deserves a banger. Hasta luego!

Any information you might need regarding the wedding can be found on this website. If you have any extra questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Can't wait to see you in Barcelona!

Love,

Aimee & Jeremy

Extra Information

We have no doubt that you will enjoy exploring Barcelona. It is one of the few cities in the world where it has it all: culture/history, beaches, and the city/nightlife. Most cities have one or two of these, but not all of these traits. If anyone is reading this and has additional information to offer to the wider group, please let me know and I will add it on here! Gracias!!

GETTING TO BARCELONA

The main airport in Barcelona is called Barcelona–El Prat (BCN).

  • From Toronto - You can fly directly from Pearson to Barcelona. Total flight time is about 8 hours. Air Canada and Air Transat both fly directly to Barcelona.
    • Alternative options would be to fly into Madrid, Dublin, London, Lisbon etc. and using RyanAir/easyJet/trains to connect.
  • From Dublin - Direct flight options are Ryanair, Aer Lingus, or Vueling.
  • From Malta - Direct flight options are Ryanair, or Vueling.
  • From UK/London - Direct flight options are Ryanair, British Airways, easyJet, Vueling etc.

If you're interested in seeing more of Spain - let us know! Aimee & I did a Spanish interrail trip for 10 days in 2016 and it was incredible. Madrid, Valencia, Toledo, Sevilla, Mallorca, and Ibiza are also worth seeing if you can extend your trip.

FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CITY CENTRE

Once you arrive in Barcelona, you have a few options to get from the airport to your accommodation if you are staying in the city centre:

  1. Aerobus - You can take the bus from the airport to a few different stops within the centre for ~€6.75 per person for a one-way ticket. We found that this method was the easiest.
    • The journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on when you get the bus.
    • The bus services both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in the airport. There are two different lines, so check which terminal you are landing in and purchase your ticket accordingly.
    • You can buy tickets online OR you can purchase them in person.
    • It’s impossible to miss – just walk outside either terminal and see the classic blue Aerobus logo.
    • The four main stops that the bus makes are: Placa Espanya, Gran Via - Borrell, Placa Universitat, and Placa Catalunya. Please check on Google Maps which stop your accommodation would be closest to - and then factor in how would you get from your stop to your hotel.
  2. Train - You can take the metro from the airport to city centre for ~€5.15 per person for a one-way ticket. It will be a ~30 minute journey once you are on the train.
    • The train is operated by Rodalies de Catalunya (Commuter Rail of Catalonia).
    • The train departs from the T2 terminal only. This means if you are landing in another terminal, you will need to take the free airport shuttle to get to T2 terminal.
    • The train station is about a 3 minute walk from Terminal 2, just follow the directions to "Renfe".
    • Tickets can only be purchased at the station.
    • Trains are usually scheduled every 30 minutes.
  3. Cabify/Taxi/Freenow - You can take a Cabify or a taxi which could take anywhere from 20-40 minutes depending on the time of day. This method will usually cost ~€25-30.
    • We would urge you to use the Cabify website to get an estimate or download the app. You can input "Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport" as the origin, and then your hotel in the destination.
    • PLEASE DO NOT try to get a taxi without using the either of the Cabify or Freenow apps. It is very common for taxi drivers to take advantage of foreigners and upcharge. Please use the apps so that you will know the price of your journey and also that you can pay via card.

WHERE TO STAY

Barcelona has many amazing spots and countless hotels. For convenience, accessibility to restaurants and sites, as well as safety, we would particularly recommend Gracia, Eixample, Barceloneta, Borne, Gothic Quarter and Vila Olimpica. Plaça de Catalunya is the city center and this is where the shuttle bus drop-off location will be. Perhaps avoid Poble Sec and Raval.

Feel free to reach out to Jeremy if you'd like my advice or need additional guidance on where/how to book.

Some hotels that we like are:

Less expensive:

  • Any of the Hotel Praktik chain e.g. Praktik Essens (the best location for being in the centre and also for shopping), Praktik Bakery (good location, and there is a bakery in the lobby) and Praktik Vinoteca (good location)

More expensive:

  • H10 Metropolitan
  • H10 Casa Mimosa

Or click here to check out a hotel list from Conde Nast

Questions

1) Can we bring kids or a plus one to the wedding?

While we would love to extend a plus one or to have children join us, unfortunately, due to budget & space limitations we cannot. We regretfully request our guests to please not bring a plus one or their children, unless they are specifically named on the invitation. Thank you so much for understanding!

2) What is the dress code for the pre-drinks and the wedding?

For our pre-drinks event on May 4th (location TBD) - casual attire.

For the wedding day on May 5th, please dress in formal cocktail attire. Ladies - be sure to bring something that will keep you warm as it may get a bit chilly in the evening as we are up in the mountains.

3) Where will the shuttle buses be picking us up from?

Please refer to the WEDDING DAY section above.

4) What are some things to keep in mind or be mindful of?

Some things that come to mind are:

  • Barcelona gets a wrap for pickpockets - we’ve been there twice and were fortunate enough to not have that experience. Please do not make it easy for them - keep your phones hidden and not in your backpockets.
  • Cobblestones - there are loads at our wedding venue. It’s Europe. Ladies remember this when choosing heels.
  • Jackets - as we are getting married in early May up in the mountains, it might get a bit chilly in the evening
  • Sim cards - for the non-Europeans who need a sim card, we were able to pick one up in Orange, just remember to bring your passport. Or you can try to find an e-sim on Amazon.
  • BCN Airport - Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are not walking distance apart like most airports - you will have to take a 20-ish minute bus between the two to connect.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us!
